Today, there is a growing interest in folk art and traditions worldwide. Throughout history, the Belarusian people have accumulated and developed a unique national culture – a collection of traditions, customs, norms, and values.

On January 9, 2026, the Faculty of Pre-University Training at VSMU held a career guidance event for students of grades 10-11 from State Educational Institution "Gymnasium of Svetlogorsk".

As part of the charity events "Goodness is Always Saving" and "Our Children," the administration of Vitebsk State Medical University visited the Vitebsk Regional Specialized Orphanage.

Alexey Chukanov, Rector of VSMU; Dmitry Kuzhel, Vice-Rector of Ideological and Educational Work; and Alexander Myasoedov, Chairman of the VSMU Staff Union Committee, presented cash certificates and hygiene products necessary for the young residents to Elena Mizerkina, the chief physician of the institution.

On January 5, 2026, VSMU students participating in the projects "Family and Spiritual and Moral Traditions of Belarus" and "Restoration of Churches in Vitebsk Region" held a charity event to clear snow from the territory and decorate the Holy Protection Cathedral in Vitebsk for Christmas. Representatives of the NGO "BRSM" of VSMU, the trade union of students and staff of VSMU, volunteers, as well as students living in university dormitories, also took part in the event.

On January 5, 2026, a meeting of the Anti-Corruption Commission was held under the chairmanship of VSMU Rector Alexei Chukanov. The main topic of the meeting was issues related to ensuring transparency during the examination session.

During the event, emphasis was placed on the strict adherence to anti-corruption legislation by all university faculty and staff, including when working with foreign citizens.
