On February 22, 2026, participants of the project "Family and Spiritual and Moral Traditions of Belarus" visited the Candle of the Beshenkovichi district on the excursion route "Five Temples – Five Destinies." During the tour, students had a conversation with the rector of the temple. Priest Alexander Markevich spoke about the ongoing restoration of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin. Divine services are currently held in the nearby church of St. Seraphim of Sarov.

On February 21, 2026, the Vitebsk Regional Sports and Art Festival, dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, was held in the town. Students and university staff actively participated in the competition and sports events of the holiday.

Matyas Vadim (6 General Medicine Faculty) secured 2nd place in the darts competition. In cross-country skiing, Slavyana Bogushevich (4 General Medicine Faculty) took 3rd place among students of higher education institutions in the Vitebsk region, and also earned 3rd place in the individual race for women under 40 years old.

A congratulatory event took place in the university lobby on February 23. A large-scale exhibition of weapons and uniforms was organized, where visitors could not only view the exhibits but also try on various items of equipment. Additionally, a UAV flight simulator was available for attendees.

For those wishing to take a piece of the holiday home, a creative workshop was set up: guests could make and sign greeting cards with their own hands.

On February 23, our country celebrates Defenders of the Fatherland Day and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus — a tribute to courage and valor. Traditionally, solemn events dedicated to this important date are held at Vitebsk State Medical University, gathering students, faculty, and staff.

The celebration at VSMU Square began with the ceremony of raising the National Flag of the Republic of Belarus.

On the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, staff and students of VSMU, led by Dmitry Kuzhel, Vice-Rector of Ideological and Educational Work, participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to soldiers-liberators on Victory Square in Vitebsk.

During the event, participants observed a minute of silence to remember the Soviet soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters from the Vitebsk region who sacrificed their lives for their homeland.
