On the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, staff and students of VSMU, led by Dmitry Kuzhel, Vice-Rector of Ideological and Educational Work, participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to soldiers-liberators on Victory Square in Vitebsk.

During the event, participants observed a minute of silence to remember the Soviet soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters from the Vitebsk region who sacrificed their lives for their homeland.

Dear colleagues, university students, and VSMU veterans!

I sincerely congratulate you on the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus!

This holiday symbolizes the unbreakable connection between generations and the continuity of military traditions. We pay deep respect to those who faithfully serve our country today and gratefully remember those who stood guard along the borders of our Motherland in the past, ensuring our independence and bright future. Their courage and steadfastness serve as the highest example of patriotism.

In peacetime, the task of defending the Fatherland takes on new dimensions. It is reflected in the daily work of doctors who save lives, teachers who educate a worthy generation, and students who explore science. Each of us, in our own way, contributes to the prosperity of our beloved Belarus.

On February 22, 2026, Vitebsk State Medical University hosted the final stage of the University Chemistry Olympiad for 11th-grade students.

Participants were tested on their knowledge of chemistry, a key subject for prospective applicants to medical universities.

The top performers in the Olympiad will be among the first to be recommended for admission to VSMU.

On February 21, 2026, the final stage of the University Olympiad in Biology was held at Vitebsk State Medical University. Students in grade 11 from general secondary education institutions who successfully passed the preliminary stage were eligible to participate in the final tests.

During the final stage, participants completed five Olympiad tasks within three hours. A total of 84 students took part in this final round.

On February 20, 2026, the Vitebsk State Medical University Library hosted an open-mic creative event, "Live Forever, Mother Tongue!", dedicated to International Mother Tongue Day, celebrated worldwide on February 21.

Staff, teachers, students of VSMU, including international students, gathered in the cozy atmosphere of the library.
