Educational process at the Chair of Traumatology and Orthopedics, Military Surgery

Educational bases and educational process

The Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Military Surgery is located at the clinical bases of two specialized departments: trauma and orthopedic departments of Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital and Vitebsk City Clinical Emergency Hospital with a total of 125 beds. For conducting clinical practical classes there are 6 classrooms equipped with modern technical training facilities - computers, video projection equipment.
The pedagogical process at the department is constantly improving. The training of students at the department is practical-oriented and meets the modern requirements of training a doctor. In the course of the classes, students supervise thematic patients, work in dressing rooms, operating rooms and acquire skills in preparing medical records in the process of writing the educational "medical history" and then presenting it.
Much attention is paid to the development of practical skills and attainments that are worked out not only in clinics (departments of traumatology and orthopedics, resuscitation and intensive care, combustiology, neurology, neurosurgery, radiology departments), but also in a mobile special unit. Each student for the period of training at the department has attendances at the trauma station of the emergency hospital.
In the educational process the department uses multimedia presentations, business games and solution of situational tasks.
Employees of the department published training manuals on the most relevant and "difficult" sections of the curriculum (spine, brush, etc.), there is a course of lectures, a manual on developing practical skills and a collection of test questions. A video library was created at the department and an archive of educational radiographs was organized.
At the department clinical interns of full-time and full/part time education from all regions of the Republic of Belarus, near and far abroad countries are trained.
