Educational process at the Chair of Biology (FOGPT)

The educational process at the department is carried out with students of intramural, evening and extramural forms of education in strict accordance with the curriculum, content, goals and tasks set out in the curricula, as well as instructional documents and instructions of the university administration.

The major points of the biology program are covered at the review lectures and detailed consideration of general trends, laws, concepts and theories of biology is carried out in practical exercises. The thematic test tasks, final control works, computer testing on all sections of the course are used at the stage of generalization, systematization and consolidation of the acquired knowledge skills and habits. Tests, thematic rehearsal testing and examination are used at the stage of intermediate and final control of the achieved learning results.

In order to effectively manage the independent work of students in mastering the teaching material and controlling the quality of teaching, the team of the department developed and prepared an educational and methodical complex that includes work programs on the subject, methodical instructions for teachers to conduct practical classes with students of all forms of education; guidelines for practical classes for students; lecture material on key issues of the biology course program and its multimedia support; current entrance test-control to each practical lesson; thematic and final control works that meet the requirements of the program for entering universities and are as close as possible to centralized testing; electronic version of the test tasks for the final sections of the course of biology for programmed knowledge control; materials for conducting tests, rehearsal tests and exams.

One of the ways to optimize the management of independent work of students is the development and introduction of the electronic teaching and methodological complex in the Moodle distance learning system into the educational process, which enables the students to get acquainted with the methodological materials and recommendations for the implementation of practical and control works, electronic manuals and glossaries on the main sections the course of biology; diagrams, tables, graphs, training and controlling test programs, examples of solving situational problems. This remote form of training enables students to work at a convenient time, in a convenient location and at a convenient pace and independently assess their level of knowledge and also to consolidate and repeat the material studied.

The use of new methodological developments, teaching aids prepared by the staff of the department, innovative educational technologies, as close as possible to the educational process of higher education, the combination of different types of classes and forms of control, development of students' independence, cooperation of students and teachers in the learning process - these techniques make it possible to bridge the skills gap, systematically correct and channel already available knowledge, abilities and skills of students, prepare them for the basics of education in the university and provide continuous education "school - university".

The accumulated long-term experience and traditions allow the employees of the Department of Biology (FOGPT) to optimize the training process for the students of the preparatory department and organize new forms of work with the use of progressive educational and scientific technologies, take into account the capabilities of all categories of future entrants and ensure their qualitative substantive preparation for centralized testing.
