The Student Club of Vitebsk State Medical University (VSMU) comprises 19 creative teams and associations, with more than 350 students regularly participating.

Throughout the academic year, the Student Club organizes around 40 concerts and cultural events. Traditional events include the annual student creativity festival “VSMU Student Autumn,” concerts dedicated to state holidays of the Republic of Belarus and Student’s Day, the folk festival “Maslenitsa,” and beauty and grace contests “Mister VSMU” and “Miss VSMU.”

The Student Club has a well-equipped material base that is constantly updated and improved: 16 microphone radio systems, professional digital mixing consoles for stage sound and lighting, an acoustic line array, and studio equipment for audio and video recording and mixing. Vocal group rehearsals are held in a specially equipped classroom.

The creative teams and individual performers of the Student Club regularly participate in city, regional, and national cultural and competition programs, proudly representing the university at the highest level. In 2018, the university received a letter of gratitude from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus “for many years of productive activity in preserving traditions and promoting amateur collective achievements, and for supporting the development of innovative forms of youth creativity.”

In April 2019, the Student Club won the Grand International Cup and Grand Prix of the All-Russian Arts Festival for medical students and healthcare workers with international participation (Smolensk, Russian Federation). In February 2021, it won the Grand Prix, seven first-degree diplomas, and two second-degree diplomas at the Republican Festival of Artistic Creativity for Student and Youth “Art-Vakacyi-2020.” In May 2021, the club received the Grand Prix for “Best Creative Team” and eight first-degree diplomas at the International Multigenre Arts Festival “Salamyany Tsud” (Minsk). In 2022, it won the Grand Prix “For many years of effective activity in aesthetic education and the development of mass forms of artistic creativity among youth.”

In the 2024–2025 academic year, the artistic teams and solo performers of the Student Club proudly represented VSMU and won numerous awards at competitions and festivals of various levels, from city to international. Among them:

XVI International Festival of Medical Students and Healthcare Workers in St. Petersburg – 3 first-degree diplomas, 1 second-degree diploma, 1 third-degree diploma, and a Laureate diploma;

City Youth Creativity Festival “Student Spring 2025” – Laureate Diploma 1st Degree; Youth Quiz within the festival – 1st and 2nd place;

Regional stage of the national patriotic song festival-competition “Soldier’s Letter – 2025” in the category “Individual Performers” – student Anna Polekhina won 3rd place;

Regional patriotic song contest “Songs of Our Fathers’ Youth” in the category “Soloist-Vocalist” – student Anna Polekhina became Laureate 1st Degree;

UVO Cheerleading Cup among university teams in Minsk – VSMU support group took 3rd place;

Choreographic Art Competition “PRODvizhenie” – Contemporary Choreography Group “Suvyaz” won 1st place in the “Street Show” category.

Other notable participations include the dance ensemble “Mixfeeds” as guests at the XXXI International Song and Music Festival “Dnieper Voices in Dubrovno”; the National Amateur Ensemble of the Republic of Belarus “Panacea” at the III Student Vocal Competition “Studovedenie” in Gomel; and three VSMU teams in intellectual games at the IV Republican Intellectual Game Tournament “ScienceQuiz” among medical university students in Grodno.

  1. Student Choral Chapel

The oldest creative ensemble, celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2025. Originally created to perform classical vocal works, the group today performs pieces from various vocal genres, ranging from classical and jazz compositions to works by contemporary composers and stylized folk songs. Since 2007, the Choral Chapel has held the prestigious title of “People’s Amateur Ensemble of the Republic of Belarus” and has consistently won the Republican Festival of Artistic Creativity of Student and Youth “Art-Vakacyi” since 2012. The ensemble is led by Olga Alexandrovna Falkovich, an international and national competition laureate and a top-level specialist, with Inna Yuryevna Kozlova as accompanist.

  1. Pop Song Studio “Tandem”

The Pop Song Studio “Tandem” is a versatile vocal ensemble with a repertoire that includes both solo pop songs and complex multi-voice pieces in various genres. Its soloists and vocal groups have repeatedly won prizes at the All-Russian Festival of Arts for Medical Students and Healthcare Workers with international participation, the Republican Festival of Artistic Creativity “Art-Vakacyi,” the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, and many other competitions and festivals. In 2022, the group and its soloists won 3 first-degree and 1 second-degree diplomas at the Republican Festival “Art-Vakacyi-2022,” and became winners of the international competitions “Friendship Cup” and “Sails of Dreams.” In 2024, they received the City Youth Award “Time of the Young,” and in 2025 – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree diplomas at the XVI International Festival of Medical Students and Healthcare Workers in St. Petersburg. The ensemble is led by Ekaterina Vladimirovna Palagot.

  1. Vocal Ensemble “Panacea”

The Vocal Ensemble “Panacea” was established in 2007. Its main creative direction is multi-voice performance of pop and folk songs. In 2012, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious title of “People’s Amateur Ensemble of the Republic of Belarus.” “Panacea” consistently becomes a laureate of the Republican Festival of Artistic Creativity of Student and Youth “Art-Vakacyi” and is regularly invited to perform at the highest levels. The founder and director of the ensemble is Alexander Mikhailovich Suvorov.

  1. Vocal Studio “Mova Zor”

This ensemble brings together students from near and far abroad. If you are an international student who wants to sing in Russian or Belarusian, or perform your national motifs on stage, Vocal Studio “Mova Zor” is waiting for you. The studio is led by Tatyana Valeryevna Makarevich.

  1. Folk Dance Ensemble “Millennium”

The dance ensemble “Millennium,” founded in the early 2000s, was originally a multi-genre group performing folk, pop, ballroom, and classical choreography. Over the years, the ensemble grew, and proactive and talented members began creating independent groups. Today, “Millennium” focuses exclusively on folk dance. A new wave of development came in 2018 when the ensemble’s participants themselves – Maria Kostrova and Ekaterina Tsumerova, students of the Medical Faculty – became its leaders. The first major success was winning 1st-degree diplomas at the All-Russian Festival of Arts for Medical Students and Healthcare Workers with international participation (Smolensk, 2019) and the Republican Festival of Artistic Creativity of Student and Youth “Art-Vakacyi-2020.” The ensemble became twice laureate of the Republican Festival “Art-Vakacyi-2022” and winners and prize-winners of international festivals and competitions “Mara,” “Dance Academy,” and “Friendship Cup.” The ensemble is led by Maria Protas, a student of the Medical Faculty.

  1. Street Dance Group “Infinity Dance Group”

The group’s very first performance, with only six members, earned a diploma at the Regional Festival “Student Spring.” Today, “Infinity Dance Group” has grown into a large team of about 30 participants specializing in street dance, achieving significant success: three-time winners of the Open Championship of the Republic of Belarus in contemporary dance, winners of the National TV project “I Can” by the Belteleradiocompany, finalists of the World Street Dance Championship, winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Festival of Arts for Medical Students and Healthcare Workers with international participation (three times), and four-time laureates of the Republican Festival “Art-Vakacyi,” among many other prestigious national and international competitions in their genre. “Infinity Dance Group” is a dynamic, creatively evolving ensemble. From its inception until September 2025, the group was led by its founder Kirill Markhotko. The new leader, Diana Alexandrovna Bugaeva, a VSMU graduate, has already introduced new large-scale performances.

  1. Ballroom Dance Ensemble “Quickstep”

The Ballroom Dance Ensemble “Quickstep” was founded in 2006. Today it is one of the most awarded ensembles, constantly seeking new ways to stage unusual and unconventional pieces for this genre. The ensemble’s achievements include the Grand Prix of the Republican Ballroom Dance Ensemble Competition “May Ball” (three times) and the All-Russian Festival of Arts for Medical Students and Healthcare Workers with international participation (twice), as well as numerous other international and national competitions and festivals. In 2021, “Quickstep,” a multiple laureate of the Republican Festival of Artistic Creativity of Student and Youth “Art-Vakacyi,” was awarded the Grand Prix of the festival “For many years of successful activity and significant contribution to the artistic and aesthetic education of youth.” Since May 2022, the ensemble has been an official member of the Belarusian Dance Sport Association, and in June it won silver medals at the Championship of the Republic of Belarus in Dance Sport. The ensemble regularly represents VSMU at official national-level events, including those attended by government leadership. In April 2025, the ensemble won two 1st places in the categories “Ballroom Dance. Ensemble of 5 or more” and “Ballroom Dance. Small Group up to 4” at the XVI International Festival of Medical Students and Healthcare Workers in Saint Petersburg. The ensemble is led by world championship finalists in ballroom dancing, Oksana Alexandrovna and Dmitry Igorevich Veremchuk.

  1. Contemporary Dance Ensemble “Impulse”

The ensemble was founded in 2008 by a student of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Irina Leshchuk, and was originally named “Dope Krank.” The style of the current ensemble, “Existence,” is described by its members as a “mix of dancehall and reggaeton.” Twice laureates of the Republican Festival of Artistic Creativity of Student and Youth “Art-Vakacyi.” The ensemble is led by Darya Chumak, a student of the Medical Faculty.

  1. Contemporary Dance Ensemble “Ekspresiya”

Founded in 2020, this ensemble works in the contemporary dance genre and participates in university concerts. In April 2025, it took part in the competition program and gala concert of the City Youth Creativity Festival “Student Spring - 2025,” under the leadership of Maria Frolova, a graduate student of the Faculty of Dentistry and holder of the title “Vice-Miss VSMU-2025.” From the new academic year, the ensemble is led by Alexandra Babashinskaya, a student of the Faculty of Dentistry.

  1. Oriental Dance Ensemble “Uskhod”

This ensemble was the highlight of the Medical Students’ Creativity Festival “Student Autumn 2024.” Founded and led by Elena Nemshon, a student of the Medical Faculty, she passionately introduced the female members of the ensemble to the enchanting world of Eastern dance. The ensemble participates in university concert programs and is gaining popularity.

  1. Contemporary Choreography Ensemble “Natkhnenne”

Another student initiative is the ensemble “Natkhnenne,” founded in 2025. Its goal is to reveal the inner potential of each participant and to develop flexibility, grace, and elegance. The ensemble is led by Elena Ruadze, a student of the Faculty of Pediatrics.

  1. Contemporary Dance Ensemble “Suvyaz”

Founded in 2022, this ensemble, under the competent leadership of Maria Podborskaya, a student of the Medical Faculty, represented VSMU with distinction at the Choreographic Arts Competition “PRODvizhenie” in Minsk in May 2025, winning 1st place in the “Street Show” category. From the new academic year, the ensemble is led by Lyudmila Lobanovich, a student.

  1. Sports Support Group “Ho.La”

This ensemble is a vivid example of VSMU’s tradition of supporting student initiatives. The idea and leadership since 2021 belong to Ekaterina Astashyonok, a VSMU alumna and current intern physician. The group’s first performance took place during the ceremonial opening of the VSMU stadium on May 5, 2022. In April 2025, the sports support group won 3rd place at the cheerleading competition among higher education teams in Minsk. “Ho.La” brightens not only university sports events but also city concert programs. On August 30–31, 2025, the ensemble participated as a show group in the electronic music festival “Poima.”

  1. Choreographic Ensemble “Mixfeeds” (Sri Lanka)

The dance ensemble from Sri Lanka, “Mixfeeds,” celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2025. Over the years, the group has become a laureate and prize-winner of numerous competitions and festivals. In March 2025, “Mixfeeds” won the Grand Prix at the XVI Open Creativity Festival for International Students “Friendship of Peoples” at the Belarusian-Russian University in Mogilev, and in June participated as guests in the XXXI International Festival of Song and Music “Dneprovskie Golosa” in Dubrovno. Leadership changes over time, but the national style and boundless love for dance remain constant.

  1. Instrumental Ensemble “In modo”

The ensemble has been active since 2017 and unites enthusiasts of live instrumental music. Today, “In modo” develops two parallel directions: the “guitar” group, led by Anastasia Novichenko, a student of the Medical Faculty, and the “vocal-instrumental” group, led by Sofia Glushnyova, also a student of the Medical Faculty. The ensemble is a laureate of the Republican Festival of Artistic Creativity of Students and Youth “Art-vakacyi” (2020, 2022).

  1. Intellectual Club “Aesculapius”

The intellectual games club “Aesculapius” has been active for over 20 years. Its main games are the competitive “What? Where? When?” and “Brain Ring.” Teams formed within the club regularly participate in competitions, winning student championships in Vitebsk region, as well as national and international tournaments. In May and September 2022, the club’s teams won the international tournaments “Novopolotsk Cup” and “Princess Olga Cup,” and in November 2022 they took 1st and 3rd place at the II Republican Intellectual Game Tournament “Science Quiz” among medical universities of Belarus. During the City Youth Creativity Festival “Student Spring - 2025,” two teams participated in the Youth Quiz, winning 1st and 2nd place. The club is led by Senior Lecturer of the Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergology with the FPC and PC Course, Sergey Igorevich Generalov.

  1. KVN (Club of the Funny and Inventive) “Plans for the Summer”

The KVN club has long-standing and strong traditions at the university. In 1989, the Vitebsk State Medical Institute KVN team “Byvalye” became the champion of the All-Union KVN Championship among medical universities. The KVN team “Anchousies” successfully competed in the Euroleague of the International KVN Union in 2005, and in 2016, the team “Agrogorodok” became the champion of the Belarusian Higher League of KVN and reached the semifinals of the International Television League of the International KVN Union. Since 2008, the university has hosted a KVN tournament, which in 2014 gained the status of the Open Republican Tournament of KVN Teams of Medical Universities. In 2017, the tournament was transformed into the official Medical League of the International KVN Union. In 2020, VSMU students as part of the KVN team “Miami” became champions, and in 2021 – vice-champions of the Open Regional Tournament “Technoliga,” participating in games of the Moscow Student KVN League. Currently, a new team, “Plans for the Summer,” is being formed. Active, cheerful, and resourceful students are invited to join and showcase their talents.

  1. Art Theatre “Mirror of the Soul”

The theatre group “De facto” was founded in 2012 by Alexandra Sheverdova, a student of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The ensemble constantly experiments, developing in several directions at once. Its repertoire includes dramatic plays such as “Triumphal Arch” by Erich Maria Remarque (2019), “The City Where I Am” by Ivan Vyrypaev (2021), “Blind Artist in a Dark Room” (2022), as well as philosophical plastic miniatures. Laureate of the Republican Festival of Artistic Creativity of Students and Youth “Art-vakacyi-2020” in the genre “Plastic Theatre.” The aim of the group is to identify and develop students’ artistic abilities, enhance their communication skills, and cultivate artistic taste.   1. Hosts and Reciters Ensemble

Every concert program needs hosts. Therefore, the Student Club always has several mixed pairs of students who can clearly articulate text, possess a pleasant announcer’s voice, charm, and the ability to hold the audience’s attention. And what is a concert without poetry? Expressive recitation is the key to audience appreciation. The ensemble’s reciters participate in thematic concerts and exhibitions both at the university level and in the city and region, as well as in competitions. Head – Vladimir Viktorovich Tolmach.
