On December 22, 2023, Vitebsk State Medical University hosted an International Christmas volleyball tournament with the participation of teams from healthcare institutions of Belarus and Russia for the prizes of the rector of VSMU.

The chairman of the Vitebsk regional organization of the Belarusian trade union of healthcare workers Vladimir Plytkevich, the chairman of the Smolensk regional organization of the trade union of healthcare workers of the Russian Federation Elena Voitova and the rector of VSMU Alexey Chukanov addressed the tournament participants with a welcoming speech.

Before the start of the competition, the athletes were pleased with their performance by the university cheerleading team (the leader Ekaterina Astashenok, the 6th year student of the Faculty of Medicine at VSMU).

This year, 4 women's and 4 men's teams took part in the competition, representing healthcare institutions of Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Orsha, Vitebsk and educational institutions - Smolensk State Medical University and Vitebsk State Medical University.

The winner of the tournament was the team of Smolensk State Medical University.

Among women, the VSMU team won 2nd place; 3rd place – the combined team of healthcare organizations in the city of Vitebsk.

Among men, the national team of healthcare organizations from Polotsk and Novopolotsk took 2nd place; 3rd place – VSMU team.

Based on the results of the competition, the main panel of judges determined the best players of the tournament in 3 categories.

Prizes in the nomination “Best setter of the tournament” were received by Daria Kholodinskaya (Vitebsk), Sergey Stolmachenok (Novopolotsk), in the nomination “Best attacking player of the tournament” - Martilenok Khristina (Vitebsk), Tereshchuk Pavel (VSMU), in the nomination “Best player of the tournament” – Natalya Dubina (VSMU), Alexander Kazakevich (Novopolotsk).
