On March 15, 2024, VSMU hosted a military sports competition for girls “I would join the army.”

In 2024, Vitebsk State Medical University hosted guests for the first time as part of the interuniversity military sports competition “I would join the army,” in which teams of girls from the Belarusian State Medical University, Gomel State Medical University, Grodno State Medical University and Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University took part.

The purpose of the competition is the military-patriotic education of young people, the popularization of service in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, and attraction to a healthy lifestyle.

Guests of the event were representatives of the administration, deans of the medical, dental, pharmaceutical and pediatric faculties, students and university staff.

The team captains received route sheets for the competition stations and the participants proceeded to the first competitive test - “Creative Business Card”, where they presented a prepared creative number corresponding to the military-patriotic theme of the event.

The competition stations “Fire Relay Race” and “Weapons, Darts” were held at the VSMU shooting range: participants competed in accuracy of air rifle shooting, assembling/disassembling a machine gun, and the “Darts” discipline.

The teams competed in full strength in the speed of putting on the combined arms protective kit at the Chemical Alert station. The results were assessed not only by the time it took to complete the task, but also by quality; for example, 5 penalty seconds were awarded for each error.

Also, as part of the competition program, participants tested their knowledge of military ranks.

At the “Historical Quiz” station, students had to compare photographs with the names of monuments and historical places associated with the events of the Great Patriotic War and correctly place them on the map of the Republic of Belarus.

The contestants demonstrated their assistance skills at the “First Aid” station, where the competition task included applying a tourniquet, transport immobilization, fixing and carrying a wounded person on a stretcher, and removing the fixation and tourniquets.

The military-sports relay race “Thrown March” became a serious test for the teams. Participants had to demonstrate speed, agility and teamwork.

At the end of the event, students members of the military-patriotic club of VSMU “Serving the Fatherland” presented the audience with a demonstration performance on tactical medicine.

Based on the results of the competition, places were distributed as follows:

1st place - team of the Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship of the Medical University "Monolith";

2nd place – team of the Grodno State Medical University “Women’s Battalion”;

3rd place – team of the Belarusian State Medical University “Fighting Friends”.
