Vitebsk State Medical University is one of the oldest educational institutions in the Republic of Belarus, which has a rich and interesting history, is famous for its highly qualified teachers, talented students and graduates. High-quality higher education is the calling card of VSMU.

On October 28, 2024, the anniversary week dedicated to the 90th anniversary of VSMU was launched. For the first time, the Order of Friendship of Peoples, which VSMU was awarded in 1984 for strengthening friendship between peoples and a significant contribution to economic, socio-political and cultural development, was opened for viewing.

The honorary right to open the Order of Friendship of Peoples for viewing was granted to the scholarship holders of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for social support of gifted students, the 4th year students Pavel Aleksandrov and Yana Kaznovetskaya.

As VSMU Rector Aleksey Chukanov emphasized: “The awarding of the Vitebsk State Medical Institute in 1984 with the Order of Friendship of Peoples for great merits in training personnel for practical healthcare, training personnel for foreign countries is a significant event that confirmed that our university was one of the best institutions providing high-quality training and integration into a friendly student family of representatives of various countries. Today, we are the continuers of the glorious traditions laid down by previous generations, and I am confident that in the future we will be worthy of having representatives of different countries come to us and feel at home.” Let the anniversary date become a bright holiday for all of us, a symbol of unity and striving for new heights!
