On February 13, 2025, the ceremonial raising of the National Flag of the Republic of Belarus was held at Vitebsk State Medical University, marking the beginning of the 2nd academic semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.

The event was attended by the Rector of the University Alexey Chukanov, the representatives of the VSMU administration, teachers and students.

The Rector Alexey Chukanov addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, wishing everyone present success in their studies, scientific work and creative endeavors, and also reminding that it is through perseverance, hard work and mutual support that the highest goals are achieved.

Particular attention was paid to rewarding students who have shown an active civic position and are actively involved in creative projects and socially significant initiatives. Gratitude was expressed to:

- Kozlovskaya Alexandra, the 3rd year student of the Faculty of Dentistry;

- Neushev Andrey, the 2nd year student of the Faculty of Medicine;

- Yatskovsky Kirill, the 5th year student of the Faculty of Medicine;

- Skaskevich Nikita, the 3rd year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics. The honorable right to raise the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus was granted to outstanding students, whose achievements became the pride of the university:

Karolina Grigorieva, a 6th-year student of the Faculty of Medicine, winner of the Republican Competition of Innovative Projects;

Anastasia Makritskaya, a 4th-year student of the Faculty of Pharmacy, laureate of the Francisk Skaryna scholarship;

Mohamed Tamim Ahmed Akilu, a 6th-year student of the Faculty of Overseas Student’s  Citizens, a member of the Sri Lanka community.

The ceremony ended with the song "Land under White Wings" performed by the VSMU pop song studio.

This day became not only the beginning of a new stage of the academic year, but also a reminder of the importance of unity, patriotism and the pursuit of knowledge, which have always been and remain the main values ​​of Vitebsk State Medical University.
