VSMU graduates: support, adaptation and guarantees for young professionals

vsmu vipusknikam 01On March 31, 2025, VSMU hosted a meeting of the graduate students of the medical, dental and pharmaceutical faculties with the First Vice-rector A.N. Shchupakova, the Head of the Legal Department D.S. Puzanov, the employees of the support sector for young professionals and interns, the chairmen of the trade union committees of the staff and students of VSMU. The meeting discussed issues of assistance to VSMU in the professional and social adaptation of young specialists, socio-economic protection of graduate students, interns and young professionals, the rights and obligations of young professionals, the functioning of the support sector for young professionals and interns, the work of the hotline, the specifics of employment, the status of a young specialist, mentoring, guarantees and compensation, etc.

The First Vice-Rector Alina Shchupakova noted that for the first time in the Republic of Belarus, VSMU has established a sector to support young professionals and interns. The "VSMU Roadmap for Graduate support for 5 years after graduation" and the "VSMU Graduate Support Program for the 2024-2025 academic year" have been developed and approved. In order to monitor the professional activities of young specialists, primary achievements and professional difficulties, and identify problematic issues of workplace adaptation, the VSMU Rector Alexey Chukanov visited 38 healthcare institutions of the Republic of Belarus in the 2024-2025 academic year and met with young specialists. This practice will continue in the 2025-2026 academic year.

At the meeting the following speakers addressed the students:

  • Denis Puzanov, the Head of the Legal Department, who informed about the rights and responsibilities of young professionals;
  • Natalia Dubina, the Head of the Support Sector for young professionals and interns, introduced the students to the specifics of the support sector for young professionals and interns, and to assist VSMU in the professional and social adaptation of young professionals;
  • Natalia Goncharova, a specialist in the support sector for young professionals and interns, who informed students about the specifics of employment, the status of a young specialist, mentoring, the work of a hotline, guarantees and compensations;
  • Nikita Paramonov, the Chairman of the VSMU Students' Trade union committee, who shared information on the socio-economic protection of graduate students, interns and young professionals.

During the meeting the students were able to get answers to their questions.
