On April 16, 2025, the solemn opening of the Republican military-patriotic contest “I would go to the army!” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place.

The event was held on the base of the 103rd Vitebsk Independent Guards Airborne Brigade, where the administration of VSMU, participants and guests of the event gathered.

Alexey Chukanov, the Rector of Vitebsk State Medical University, chairman of the competition jury, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. He noted the significance of the event, emphasizing that this year the competition acquired the republican status, uniting student teams from eight universities of Belarus.

On the first day of the competition, the contestants faced sports and creative competitions.

The sports program included both classic military-applied disciplines and special tests testing readiness for non-standard situations. The girls competed in the military-applied multiathlon “Strength. Dexterity. Speed”, where it was important to show their physical fitness, and in the contest ‘Equipping in means of defense’ - demonstrated speed and accuracy of actions in conditions of conditional threat.

Special interest was aroused by the stages of disassembly and assembly of automatic rifle AKS-74, where the participants showed excellent mastery of the weapon, and shooting from air rifle, which required from them coolness and accuracy. No less intense were the tests on first aid and carrying a wounded person - skills that in real conditions can save a life. The girls showed their dexterity and strength in overcoming the “Fence” obstacle, and in throwing a grenade into the target they tested their accuracy and throwing power.

The participants of the competition showed that they have not only physical endurance, but also excellent training, wit and ability to work in a team.

In the evening, the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic Hall hosted the creative stage “We are the heirs of the Great Victory”. The bright event drew a line under the first day of the competition, leaving the audience with unforgettable emotions.

The participating teams presented a whole palette of talents: the hall was filled with heartfelt songs, dances and dramatic performances. Each number was unique - they felt love for the Motherland and gratitude to the heroes of the past.

The evening was a true celebration of creativity, where each performance touched the heart and reminded: the feat of ancestors lives in the hearts of the younger generation.
