On April 25, 2025, a delegation of Vitebsk State Medical University headed by the Rector Aleksei Chukanov visited medical institutions of Minsk region to get acquainted with the working conditions of medical graduates at their first jobs.
During the visit to Nesvizh and Stolbtsy central district hospitals, an open dialogue with young specialists took place.
The main topics of discussion were:
quality of training of graduates and their readiness for professional activity,
social and legal support for medical professionals,
observance of labour rights and guarantees of young specialists,
adaptation in the team and mentoring issues.
The meeting was attended not only by graduates of VSMU, but also by young specialists and interns from other medical universities of the country.
Addressing the audience Alexey Chukanov noted: ‘It is extremely important for us that graduates of medical universities feel support from the first days of work. In VSMU we actively develop the system of support for young specialists, including legal assistance and professional mentoring’.
The participants of the meeting were able to ask the university management questions and receive detailed answers.
Denis Lits, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Organisational and Legal Work: ‘Successful adaptation of young specialists is the key to the stability of the healthcare system. We are working to ensure that each specialist has a clear understanding of his or her rights, opportunities for growth and mechanisms for resolving emerging issues.
The dialogue turned out to be constructive and productive, and all the proposals voiced will be taken into account for further improvement of the system of support for young doctors.
