New project in the Art Gallery of the library

afishaExhibition-presentation of the combined local history database of the VSMU library “Teachers of Vitebsk Medical Institute on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War” as a living project-memorial to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, will take place in the Art Gallery of the library from May 6, 2025.

80 years ago the Great Patriotic War ended. Huge suffering and losses it brought to our people. Dozens of destroyed cities, thousands of burnt villages, millions of ruined lives...

Belarus was the first country to take the blow of Nazi Germany, showing the whole world the courage, heroism and bravery of its citizens in the fight against the enemy. The teachers, students and graduates of the Vitebsk Medical Institute, who together with the entire Soviet people stood up to defend their homeland, fought in the ranks of the Soviet Army with weapons in their hands or providing medical care to the wounded, fought against the enemy in the underground and partisan groups, were not left out of the fight against fascism.

The combined local history database of the VSMU library “Teachers of Vitebsk Medical Institute at the fronts of the Great Patriotic War” is devoted to the immortalization of their memory - a living project-memorial, which will be replenished with new names and fates, so that the bright memory of the heroes will continue to live in the centuries.

Information about some of the leaders and teachers reflected on the pages of the database will be presented to your attention.

This special project emphasizes the importance of historical memory: “it is necessary for the living”.

Together we pay tribute to those who fought for the freedom and independence of our country.
