Group of scientists of the VSMU School of Infectious Diseases under the direction of the Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Semenov V.M. took part in the XI Congress of Euro-Asian Society on Infectious Diseases, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, which was held on May 18-20, 2025 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The program of the Congress covered the most relevant for practicing physicians scientific directions in the field of diagnostics, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases - viral (measles, hepatitis, influenza and ARVI, HIV, etc.) and bacterial infections, mycoses, tropical and parasitic diseases.

Reports on the problems of viral infections were made by Dr., Professor T.I. Dmitrachenko “Human virome - from symbiosis to disease”, Dr., Associate Professor K.M. Kubrakov “Significance of Torque Teno virus in infections of the urinary system”, Dr., Associate Professor S.K. Zenkova “Torque Teno virus in infectious lesions of the human respiratory system”, Dr., Associate Professor I. Lyatos. А. "Modern problems of acute respiratory infection".

Special attention of the Congress was paid to the therapy of hospital infections, the problem of resistance of pathogens and rational antimicrobial chemotherapy.

The topical lecture “Molecular genetic technologies in infectology” by the Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases with a course of FAT and PR of VSMU, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Semenov V.M. caused a heated discussion and debate in the circles of academicians of Russia.

Resistance issues were raised in the reports of Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Egorov S.K. “Mechanisms of resistance formation to antibacterial drugs A. baumannii, K. pneumoniae, P. aeruginosa” and Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Kizimenko A.N. “Resistance of K. pneumoniae to antibacterial drugs in the post-cohort period in a multidisciplinary hospital”.

At the poster session were heard reports in the format of video presentations: E.S. Pashinskaya, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor, E.S. Within the framework of the Congress the meeting of the expert council on development of clinical recommendations of the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Eurasian Economic Union on diagnostics and treatment of acute respiratory infections in children was held. The Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Dr., Professor Semenov V.M.

As well as discussions of joint scientific projects within the framework of the Euro-Asian Society were held.
