On May 22-23, 2025, the XXIV Republican Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participation “Modern Advances in Neurology and Neurosurgery” and satellite regional conference for neurologists and neurosurgeons took place, in which the staff and students of Vitebsk State Medical University took part.

This annual forum, which has become traditional, gathered more than 200 participants from Belarus and Russia. The speakers were leading specialists of the Russian National Research Center of Neurology and Neurosurgery, medical universities, other institutions, and Russian colleagues. There were 52 reports on topical issues of neurology and neurosurgery, also a poster session was held, where young researchers and students presented the results of their own research.

The Head of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of VSMU, Associate Professor Y.V. Alekseenko and Professor K.M. Kubrakov made reports in the educational part of the conference. The most active and numerous in the program of poster presentations was the team of young specialists of VSMU and Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital - they presented 8 reports devoted to various problems of neurology and neurosurgery. Izka Mohamed, a 6th year student of VSMU, won the 3rd prize in the competition of scientific papers (supervisors - senior lecturers of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery A.M. Dyatlova and O.V. Shirko).
