June 16, 2025, Mr Santiago Perez Benitez, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus, visited Vitebsk State Medical University.

The Ambassador met with Denis Lits, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Organisational and Legal Work of VSMU. Also the Head of the Department of International and Interregional Relations Sharykhina Elena and the Head of the International Relations Department Pchelintseva Anna took part in the talks.

The main topic of the constructive dialogue was the possibilities of strengthening partnership relations between VSMU and leading medical universities, educational and scientific centres of Cuba. The issues of development of joint educational programmes, including joint scientific projects in the field of pharmacy were discussed.

The Vice-rector Denis Lits emphasised the readiness of VSMU for active development of partnership: "For our university cooperation with Cuban colleagues is of great interest. Combining our competences in education and science, especially in the promising field of biopharmacy, opens new opportunities for innovation and improving the quality of medical care in both countries. We see concrete steps to implement joint exchange programmes and research initiatives."
