For members of the VSMU Military-Patriotic Club "Service to the Motherland," loyalty to principles is not just words but actions. It's a live, real work that allows them to understand firsthand the value of peaceful skies. That is why the club's activities go far beyond the university boundaries.
Students and staff who are members of the club, with the support of the VSMU Trade Union, participated in a unique search and educational event!
In the territory of the Azino village council in Polotsk district, they joined a team of searchers to revive the history of the Soviet bomber SB-2M-105, shot down in July 1941, and to find out the fate of its crew.
This aircraft belonged to the 208th Fast Bombers Squadron (208 SBAP) and was lost in the second month of the war. During those difficult times, our bombers often went on combat missions without fighter cover, making them easy targets for the fascists. Nevertheless, our pilots heroically flew to bomb the advancing enemy, often risking their lives to complete their missions.
During the excavations, fragmentary human remains, parachute buckles, and engine parts with serial numbers were found, which will help identify the names of the fallen crew members.
In addition to search activities, the club activists laid flowers at the brotherly grave and visited a school museum in the village of Azino.
