On October 30, Vitebsk State Medical University hosted the XI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Arterial Hypertension and Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases." The scientific program was extensive, featuring reports by leading experts from Belarus, Russia, China, the USA, Poland, and Kyrgyzstan.
At the plenary session, Andrey Maryanovich Pristrom, Director of the Russian National Research Center for Cardiology and Chief Freelance Cardiologist at the Ministry of Health, highlighted arterial hypertension as a key cardiovascular risk factor. Professor Mahfouz El Shahawi, President of the International Society for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases, shared his experience in managing patients in the United States. Head of the Department of Hypertension and Diabetology at the Medical University of Gdansk, Professor Krzysztof Narkiewicz, presented on "Hypertension Control: Act Earlier and Treat Effectively." Alexandra Konradi, Deputy General Director for Scientific Work at the Almazov National Medical Research Center, and an Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, discussed the challenges and prospects in treating hypertension. Viktor Aleksandrovich Snezhitsky, Professor of the 1st Department of Internal Medicine at Grodno State Medical University and corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, emphasized the prevention of complications in patients with arterial hypertension and atrial fibrillation. Professor Mehman Mammadov Niyazievich, Head of the Department of Secondary Prevention of Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases and a foreign member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, shared the results of his research on "8-Year Prognosis of Patients with Arterial Hypertension and Comorbid Conditions."
Vladislav Pavlovich Podpalov, Head of the Department of Hospital Therapy and Cardiology with a course in the Faculty of Advanced training and Staff Retraining at VSMU, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus, focused on cardiovascular risks in the Belarusian population.
The plenary session concluded with a speech by Ji Wang, Professor at the Shanghai Institute of Arterial Hypertension, who discussed innovations in the diagnosis and treatment of arterial hypertension in China.
Following the break, participants engaged in specialized sections: "Innovative Technologies for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Hypertension," "Hypertension and Comorbid Pathology," and "Modern Aspects of Primary and Secondary Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases."
In addition to oral presentations, master classes were held in the newly opened operating rooms of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Cardiology Center, where complex cases received consultation from leading specialists.
A competition for young scientists was also organized as part of the conference.
This year, the XI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Arterial Hypertension and Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases" brought together specialists from various countries abroad, as well as from Belarus, fostering international collaboration to address the most pressing challenges in practical cardiology.
