On December 8, 2025, the Republican Botkin Readings on "Ethical Problems in Medicine: Professional Burnout" were held at Vitebsk State Medical University.
The conference was opened by Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.
Alexey Chukanov, Rector of the university, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of the chosen topic for the training of future doctors and the preservation of human resources in the healthcare industry. He noted that issues related to professional ethics and the psychological well-being of physicians are integral to providing high-quality healthcare.
Dedicated to the challenges of modern healthcare, the forum brought together not only representatives of the scientific community but also practitioners from various fields for a constructive interdisciplinary dialogue. The event was attended by heads of practical healthcare institutions of the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, teachers and students of VSMU, and members of public organizations.
Held in the format of an active professional discussion, the event enabled participants to explore practice-oriented strategies for overcoming professional burnout and strengthening the moral and ethical foundations of medical practice.
The Republican Botkin Readings at VSMU have become an important platform for consolidating efforts among the medical community, science, religious institutions, and the public to reinforce ethical standards in the profession.
