The VIII International Surgery Olympiad was held in Novosibirsk, gathering representatives from 12 leading medical universities from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Lugansk.
VSMU students showcased their skills and competencies across various competitive stages:
- Intestinal anastomosis on an experimental animal
- Inter-loop anastomosis according to Brown
- Microsurgery
- Coronary artery bypass surgery
- Thoracic surgery
- Vessel seam
- Herniotomy
- Plaster cast application
- Billroth I gastric resection
- Primary surgical treatment of wounds
As a result of their performance, the team from Vitebsk State Medical University demonstrated the highest level of training, professional skills, and cohesive team spirit, earning recognition as one of the competition’s leaders.

3rd Degree:
- Primary surgical treatment of wounds: Nikita Skaskevich (cameraman), Mikhail Voloshanyuk, Denis Dashko
- Coronary artery bypass surgery: Roman Filippenko (operator), Andrey Izmer, Denis Dashko
- Billroth I gastric resection: Bogushevich Slavyana (operator), Polina Vashina, Alexander Brel
The most significant achievement was that the VSMU team secured FIRST PLACE overall among all participating international teams.
