As part of ongoing engagement with young people, on December 15, VSMU Rector Alexey Chukanov met with members of the university team representing VSMU at the VIII International Student Surgery Olympiad.

The VSMU team secured 1st place among seven international teams and also won prizes in various nominations:

• Vessel seam – 1st place
• Plastic surgery – 2nd place
• Plaster cast – 2nd place
• Herniation – 2nd place
• Primary surgical treatment of a wound – 3rd place
• Coronary artery bypass grafting – 3rd place
• Billroth-I gastric resection – 3rd place

During the meeting, the students noted the high quality of the work carried out by the VSMU faculty, which enabled them to achieve the best results among their peers.

Alexey Nikolaevich emphasized that this success was made possible largely thanks to the university's active participation in the implementation of national social policy objectives.

The Rector of VSMU and deputy of the Vitebsk City Council of Deputies stated: "In this landmark week, when the second meeting of the VII All-Belarusian National Assembly will take place, it is especially important for us to determine the priorities for our country's development. Your example, dear students, is proof of the correctness of our course, including the prospects we see for tomorrow."
