On December 16, Vitebsk State Medical University hosted the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation, titled "Military Medicine: History and Modernity," dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Advanced Training and Staff Retraining.

As part of the conference, a plenary session titled "Problems of Postgraduate Education" was held. During this session, the rector of Vitebsk State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor A. N. Chukanov, delivered a report titled "Features of Postgraduate Education at the Present Stage." Other speakers included E. Zemnova, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Control of Education at the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, who spoke about innovations in ensuring the quality of education in Belarus; V. A. Filonyuk, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Science Department of the Ministry of Health of Belarus, who described the provision of the healthcare system with highly qualified researchers; T. V. Kalinina, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Additional Education for Healthcare Workers at Belarusian State Medical University, who highlighted issues, risks, and possible solutions in postgraduate medical education; and T. I. Dmitrachenko, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel at VSMU, who presented the report " the Faculty of Advanced Training and Staff Retraining at VSMU: 20th and 21st Centuries."

Within the framework of the conference, various sections were conducted, discussing trends in the development of lifelong learning, experience, problematic issues, and prospects for improving the postgraduate education system in healthcare and pharmacy. Topics included modern approaches to organizing adult education, the use of innovative and information-communication technologies in continuing education, and the challenges facing healthcare and pharmacy education.

The conference brought together highly qualified specialists from various educational and healthcare institutions, facilitating a fruitful exchange of experiences and ideas in the field of postgraduate education.
