On February 20, 2026, the Vitebsk State Medical University Library hosted an open-mic creative event, "Live Forever, Mother Tongue!", dedicated to International Mother Tongue Day, celebrated worldwide on February 21.
Staff, teachers, students of VSMU, including international students, gathered in the cozy atmosphere of the library.
The open-mic program was diverse and engaging. Participants recited poetry and prose by famous authors and performed vocal numbers. The stage featured works by Belarusian and Russian classics, which have become an integral part of our cultural heritage.
Specially memorable were the performances by international students, adding a unique flavor to the evening. They read works in their native languages: Arabic, English, Tamil, and Sinhalese. This allowed the audience to experience the cultures of distant countries and appreciate the beauty of rare languages heard in our region.
Events like these within the walls of the VSMU library are becoming a wonderful tradition, reminding us that, despite differences in languages and cultures, the art of words unites hearts.
Thank you to all the participants for a wonderful evening!
