On March 11, 2026, the VSMU Student Center hosted an educational training seminar titled "Care and Communication with People with Dementia." The event was organized for future doctors with the support of the Charitable Catholic Religious Mission "Caritas."
The seminar featured experts in the field of supporting individuals with cognitive impairments, who shared their experiences and professional insights:
- Marta Rykunova, coordinator of the project "Support for People with Dementia and Their Caring Relatives in Vitebsk and the Vitebsk Region";
- Anastasia Bykova, psychotherapist at the Novopolotsk Central City Hospital (Neuropsychiatric Dispensary);
- Elena Kulakova, Head of the Day Department for the Elderly;
- Tatiana Belobrova, head of the Su-Jok therapy circle at the Territorial Center for Social Services in the Pervomaisky district of Vitebsk.
The university's medical volunteers showed great interest in the topic. They actively engaged in discussions on key issues related to dementia and received comprehensive answers from the invited experts.
At the end of the training, volunteers were awarded certificates confirming their successful completion of the specialized course "Communication and Care for People with Dementia."
