"What unites us": the Peoples' Friendship Festival was held at VSMU

festival of cultures 01On April 17, 2026, the festival of cultures "What unites us" was held at Vitebsk State Medical University. A large-scale exhibition and presentation brought together Belarusian students and students of the Overseas Students Training Faculty to show that friendship knows no borders.

Students from Belarus, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Nigeria, India, Pakistan and Turkmenistan presented their culture at the festival.

The festival program has a place for the whole variety of traditions. The guests saw a vivid exhibition of national souvenirs and household items, tasted authentic dishes from different countries, and got acquainted with video presentations of local communities. The evening culminated with musical performances, which the students presented with special sincerity.

The vibrant international evening proved that mutual respect and interest in each other's culture is the best bridge between nations.

The participants themselves shared their impressions of the event.:

Sarut Hayi, a 6th-year student of the Institute of Applied Mathematics from Lebanon: "Everyone shared their happiness and culture. Yesterday we were all united. That's what our university means – unity and one heart. I almost burst into tears when all of us, Lebanese, Belarusian, Sri Lankan students, Turkmen, Africans... danced and laughed."

Sarut Rushdie from Lebanon: "Thank you to our university for the opportunity to be united. Yesterday we were all of one heart."
