VSMU staff participated in the II International Angio-Neurological Congress of Stroke Treatment Specialists

angioneurological congress 01On May 15-16, 2026, the II International Angioedema Congress of Stroke Treatment Specialists was held in Minsk. The congress was attended by more than 500 neurologists, neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, intensive care physicians, X-ray endovascular surgeons, cardiologists, specialists in the field of medical rehabilitation, functional diagnostics, neuroinfections, etc. In addition, many colleagues joined the discussion of current issues in an online format. The congress was attended by leading Belarusian and Russian experts. The delegation from the Vitebsk region consisted of more than 90 people.

The plenary session of the Congress was opened by Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Professor O.O. Rummo, Director of the Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantation and Hematology. As honorary guests of the congress, presentations were made by Professor N.A. Shamalov, Chief Neurologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the Department of Health of the City of Moscow, Director of the Institute of Cerebrovascular Pathology and Stroke of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Federal Center for Brain and Neurotechnology" of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia; Professor G.I. Ivanova, Chief Specialist in Medical Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Head. Department of Medical and Social Rehabilitation of the Central Research Institute of the Federal State Budgetary Budgetary Institution "Federal Scientific and Clinical Center of Intensive Care and Rehabilitation", Head. Department of Medical Rehabilitation of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation; A.M. Alasheev, Chief Neurologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District and others.

In addition to the plenary part, the congress was held in 12 sections devoted to various issues of diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation of patients with cerebral circulatory disorders, as well as the organization of specialized care, problems of primary and secondary prevention, optimization of interdisciplinary interaction; several master classes and a round table for expert discussion were organized. At the final session of the congress, a special report was presented on the history of angioedema in Belarus, the first thrombectomy in the Republic of Belarus.

Yu.V. Alekseenko, Head of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at VSMU, and Associate Professor N.N. Belyavsky moderated one of the sections, and also made presentations on topical complex issues of diagnosis and management of patients with cerebrovascular disorders. In the final part of the congress, the specialists who made a significant contribution to improving the care of patients with cerebral circulatory disorders were noted.

Ekaterina Paramonova, a trainee teacher at the Department of Medical Rehabilitation with a course in faculty of Advanced Training and Staff Retraining at VSMU, also took part in the II International Angioedema Congress of Stroke Treatment Specialists.

As part of the Rehabilitation Hardware Support section, she presented a report on the topic "Rehabilitation of patients with mixed anxiety and depressive disorder using hypobaric adaptation."

The International Angioedema Congress aroused great interest among specialists and, of course, was one of the most striking medical events of this year. The organizers and participants of the event are confident in the successful development of interaction and cooperation in this important scientific and practical area. The next III International Angioedema Congress is proposed to be held on May 14-15, 2027 in Vitebsk.
