On October 10, 2023 the grand opening of the XV festival of arts for medical students and medical workers with international participation took place in the city of Nizhny Novgorod, Russian Federation. Nikolai Karyakin, Rector of the Volga Research Medical University, addressed the delegations from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan with a welcoming speech. A delegation from VSMU, headed by Vice-Rector for Educational Work Natalya Boltrushevich, took part in the opening of the festival. Creative teams from our university take part in the competition program of the festival.

From October 2 to 6, 2023 the Republican Universiade in Boxing was held at the Gomel Regional Center of the Olympic Reserve for Martial Arts. Among those who stood on the podium were three VSMU students: Artyom Usovik (weight category up to 92 kg) won a silver medal, Gleb Ivanov (over 92 kg) and Fyodor Baleiko (up to 86 kg) won bronze medals. All athletes are the fourth-year students at the Faculty of Medicine and train under the guidance of Master of Sports of the USSR Leonid Bolshakov, head of the Department of Physical Culture at VSMU.

On October 5-6, 2023, a meeting of the Youth Council of the Belarusian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers was held in the city of Novopolotsk with the participation of the Chairman of the Republican Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers Vyacheslav Shilo and the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers Vladimir Plytkevich.

On October 6, 2023 as part of the Week of Prevention of Drug Distribution and Psychoactive Substance Use among Youth “Make the Right Choice,” at VSMU a meeting between university dormitory staff and senior inspectors of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Administration of  Oktyabrsky District of Vitebsk was held. Police majors Ekaterina Kurnevich and Evgeniy Pishchulenko discussed with the members the types of offenses common among youth and effective forms of working with youth to prevent offenses.
