The All-star futsal championship organised by the Indian Medical student Union of VSMU was held on 19th of March 2023 in the VSMU sports complex. 4 teams from boys and 2 teams from girls took part in this tournament. Cultural Dean Maria Alexeevna, Dr. Denesh Nithiyanandadeva, presidents of the IMSU and SLMSU as well as many students came to spectate and to cheer for their teams.
From Boys teams named “Infernos”, “Tyrants”, “Gangrene” and “Black Ops” played in a league format and from Girls teams “Lady Cougars” and “The Alphas” played in a best of three matches. In Boys category team “Infernos” emerged champions, “Tyrants” and “Gangrene” became 1st and 2nd runners up respectively. In the girls tournament “Lady Cougars” became champions and “The Alphas” became 1st runners up.
After this there was an exhibition All-star match held between Team India and Team Sri Lanka. Team India won the match. The students from both Indian and Srilankan community actively took part in the tournament. From Boys Saadiq and from Girls Paristha won the MVP of the All-star futsal championship. Best Offensive player boys was won by Udish and Simran won in the girls category. Shabbir and Salma won the Best Goal keeper award in boys and girls devision respectively. Best goal boys went to Prabu and Simran won the best goal award in the girls matches. Mannu and Tasnim won the Best defender award in boys and girls respectively.
The matches were well organised by the IMSU, were intense and fun filled at the same time.
