On November 28, 2023, at Vitebsk State Order of Peoples’ Friendship Medical University, as part of the festival of creativity of medical students “VSMU Student Autumn 2023”, an international evening of friendship and national cultures “What Unites Us” was held. The evening was organized by the Student’s Primary Trade Union Organization of the Educational Establishment “Vitebsk State Medical University” together with the Dean’s Office of the VSMU Overseas Student’s Training Faculty.

During the event in the hall of the medical-theoretical building of VSMU, anyone could get acquainted with the culture of our friendly countries, whose students come to study with us. Students from the Republic of Belarus, India, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt and Bangladesh prepared cultural artifacts of their countries - traditional national costumes, jewelry, money, musical instruments and household items. During the presentation guests of this colorful holiday were also able to enjoy traditional playing of musical instruments and national cuisine.

Everyone could get acquainted with the traditions and features of the history and culture of these communities. It turned out that you can travel to many countries of the world while being within the boundaries of your home university.

“Multicultural education of young people and the development of friendly relations are very relevant today, especially in the stage of numerous military conflicts on the globe and the peace-loving policy pursued by the Republic of Belarus at the present stage. Moreover, our university bears the name of the Order of Friendship of Peoples,” noted the chairman of the trade union committee, Alexander Myasoedov.
