On February 23, 2024, the festive event dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus was held at VSMU.

The Rector of Vitebsk State Medical University Alexey Chukanov, the Vice-Rector for Security, Regime and Personnel Nikolai Dorofeev, the Colonel of the Medical Service as well as the Head of the Military Department Igor Lyatos, the Head of the Department of International and Interregional Relations as well as the Chairman of the Public Association “Belarusian Union of Women” of VSMU Elena Sharykhina addressed those present with words of congratulations.

Creative congratulation numbers were presented by the VSMU student activists, the members of the military-patriotic club, the VSMU student club, and the participants of the pop song studio “Tandem”.

During the event, it was noted that the preservation of historical memory is the foundation of the future of the country, the main value in the minds of every Belarusian, and the key to a peaceful and happy life today is not only a careful attitude to history and educating young people in Belarusian traditions, but also a conscientious attitude towards study and work.

The University Rector Alexey Chukanov, the members of the rector's office and representatives of dean's offices in a solemn atmosphere congratulated the employees of the military department of VSMU on the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and presented them with memorable gifts.
