On April 26, 2024, the trade union committee of VSMU students, together with the dean’s office of FOST and the Department of Foreign Languages, held an oratory competition “Improvisation contest”, dedicated to the International Day of the English Language.

Students from Sri Lanka, Iran, Egypt, Nigeria, India and Belarus took part in the competition. The purpose of the competition was to identify among students the most skilled wordsmiths who have the skills to speak publicly on a given topic and constructively defend their views.

As part of the event, participants improvised, debated and answered impromptu questions related to the English language and culture.

Based on the results of the competition, the winners were awarded diplomas.
