From May 16 to May 20, 2022, representatives of General Medicine and Pharmaceutical Faculties, students of VSMU, reflexologists from Vitebsk took part in the international online conference "Online exchange of traditional medicine traditions between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus" with representatives of Guizhou University (PRC).

Vice-Rector of Academic Research Work Asiryan Elena Gennadievna delivered a welcoming speech from VSMU. The rector and administration of Guizhou University greeted students, teachers of VSMU and doctors.

The work of the conference was devoted to topical issues of traditional Chinese medicine in combination with modern Western medicine. A rich and interesting program of the conference included lectures and master classes by scientists from China and the Republic of Belarus. At the event, university staff and students listened to 19 lectures by professors, doctors of science, teachers of Guizhou University, as well as doctors working at the clinical bases of the partner university. We were introduced to the ethnic medicine of the People's Republic of China, the history of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Students and teachers of General Medicine Faculty of VSMU got acquainted with the basic theories of TCM and got the concept of the “human transport network”, the meridian system, learned more about the Tuina therapeutic massage technique, the method of acupuncture, therapeutic fumigation, cupping massage. Specialists and students of Pharmaceutical Faculty were particularly interested in lectures on biolabeling of medicines, nanotechnologies, medicinal plants and insects of China. There was a lot in common between the practice of nursing staff at Guizhou University and the training of VSMU students on the base of the training center for practical training and simulation training. Specialists of the Chair of Medical Rehabilitation and Physical Education with the course of the Faculty of Advanced Training and Staff Retraining of VSMU and reflexologists especially appreciated the lectures on children's massage, on the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and the prevention of diabetes mellitus using TCM methods.

VSMU specialists took part in the event and prepared presentations and lectures for Chinese colleagues. Moreover students of Faculty of Overseas Students Training, studying in the specialty "General Medicine", presented their reports for the partner university.

In total, more than 450 students of General Medicine and Pharmaceutical Faculties of VSMU attended lectures.

Representatives of Guizhou University were very surprised by our deep knowledge in the field of CTM, thanked VSMU for informative lectures and exchange of experience in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients. Colleagues from the Guizhou University expressed a great desire to continue cooperation, invited to joint participation in events, offered academic exchanges for teachers and students for a period of 1 or 2 semesters.
