The department teaches the following disciplines:
- Pathological anatomy for students of medical, pediatric, dental faculty and FTFC (faculty of training for foreign citizens),
- Biopsy-sectional course for students of the Faculty of Medicine and FTFC,
- “Pathological anatomy” within the subinternship profile,
- “Selected issues of forensic medicine in the practical activities of a pathologist” of the subordination profile “Pathological Anatomy”,
- Forensic medicine for students of medical, pediatric, dental faculty and FTFC,
- Conducting thematic training courses for medical specialists.
Clinical bases of the department:
- Vitebsk Regional Clinical Pathological Bureau;
- Office of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations of the Republic of Belarus for the Vitebsk region.
Types of medical and advisory work performed:
- research and consultation of biopsy cases,
- conducting and consulting pathological autopsies,
- review of pathological examination protocols and analysis of categories of discrepancies in diagnoses,
- holding advisory biopsy conferences,
- control over the quality of micro preparations in the departments of the pathology bureau,
- forensic medical examination of living persons and corpses,
- performing, consulting and reviewing medical and forensic examinations,
- forensic medical examination of case materials,
- consultations with practical experts and investigators and participation in court hearings.
As part of its research work, the department studies the morphology of epithelial malignant tumors and precancerous diseases.
