On September 1, 2025, in accordance with a well-established tradition, a nationwide unified lesson was held across the country. This year, it brought students together under a profound and constructive theme – “Generation Relay: Preserving the Past, Creating the Future.”
At Vitebsk State Medical University, this lesson took on a special significance. Future healthcare professionals – those who will be responsible for safeguarding the health of the nation in the 21st century – participated in engaging conversations with Rector Aleksei Chukanov, First Vice-Rector Alina Shcupakova, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Organizational-Legal Work Denis Lits, and Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work Dmitry Kuzhel.
Representatives of the university administration touched upon the most sensitive chords of everyone present. Speaking about continuity, they emphasized that the medical profession is not only about knowledge and skills but also about the living link between generations. It is a continuation of the legacy of countless medical professionals who, during war, epidemics, and peaceful times, saved lives and restored health to millions of people.
The goal of the lesson is to remind everyone of the enduring value of historical memory, national traditions, and spiritual heritage – was successfully achieved. Through an open and lively dialogue between generations, students felt their connection with those who preceded them and became aware of their personal responsibility for shaping the future of their country.
The tasks set before the lesson – to foster respect for history, emphasize the importance of heritage, and instill pride in one’s country – were embodied in sincere conversations, thoughtful questions, and that special, indescribable sense of community that filled the hall.
For VSMU students, September 1, 2025, was not just another date on the calendar but a moment of unity that once again proved: to move confidently forward, it is essential to remember one’s history and traditions.
