The VSMU Oriental Dance Studio won the Grand Prix at the republican contest "New Peaks — 2026"

On March 22, 2026, in Minsk, on the stage of the XII Open Festival-Competition "New Peaks — 2026," the studio met its finest hour. Just three years earlier, it had begun with rehearsals at its home university. The Oriental dance studio of VSMU, headed by Elena Nemshon, a 5th-year student of the General Medicine Faculty, did not just perform well — she conquered the jury and received the highest award of the competition.

The "New Peaks" competition has long been regarded as a national school of excellence: the best choreographic groups from all over Belarus compete here, and the level of competition is serious. But the girls proved that talent, combined with perseverance, can move mountains.

"The staff of the Oriental dance studio at VSMU is young, but creatively growing," says Elena Nemshon. "Just three years ago, we took our first steps within the walls of our university, and today we can proudly say that our dances resonate beyond its borders."

In the first half of the year, the team participated in university concerts, perfecting every move. But the main test was in the spring.

The results announced in Minsk exceeded all expectations. The Grand Prix — an award given to the best of the best — was awarded to Vitebsk.

"This award proves that hard work, rehearsals, and boundless love for art produce incredible results," Elena emphasizes.

The studio’s success is also a story about the right environment where dreams become reality.

The girls extend their special thanks to the university administration.

"Your support and assistance in organizing trips to festivals allowed us not only to demonstrate our abilities but also to showcase VSMU as a place of bright, multifaceted talents," the team leader notes. "Our university gives students not only knowledge but also opportunities to realize their dreams."

Today, "New Peaks" have been conquered. But looking at this team, one realizes — they are only at the beginning of a long journey!
