The revival of the temple in the Vitebsk region

On April 1, 2026, VSMU students participated in a charity event to clean the territory of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in the rural settlement of Candle, located in the Beshenkovichi district of the Vitebsk region. Participants included members of the student project "Family and Spiritual and Moral Traditions of Belarus," as well as representatives of the student and staff trade union committees and university volunteers. They assisted in clearing foliage and construction debris from the church grounds.

The rector of the church, Priest Alexander Markevich, spoke about the ongoing restoration work. He also held a conversation with students on caring for the outside world and loved ones, respecting parents, and maintaining a responsible attitude to life. At the end of the event, the rector expressed gratitude to the university youth for their help in preparing the village church for Easter and emphasized the importance of preserving Orthodox spiritual traditions.
