The quality of dental education is under control

The state final certification of graduates in the specialty "Dentistry" at VSMU is traditionally conducted in two stages and is a comprehensive assessment of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

The first stage, practical, is implemented using an objective structured clinical examination (Objective structured clinical examination), which includes work at 5 specialized stations simulating real clinical situations.

The second stage, theoretical— takes place in the form of an oral interview, which makes it possible to assess the depth and consistency of professional thinking of future specialists.

On June 19, the exam in the discipline "Orthopedic dentistry, maxillofacial surgery and surgical dentistry" took place.

The examination card included 5 theoretical questions and a situational task covering a wide range of topics: from providing surgical and orthopedic care to aspects of orthodontic treatment for both adult and pediatric patients.

In order to objectively assess the level of formation of professional competencies of graduates, the leadership of Vitebsk State Medical University visited the VSMU Clinic, on the basis of which certification tests are conducted. Rector of the University Alexey Chukanov and First Vice-rector Alina Shchupakova visited the examination rooms, where they got acquainted with the organization of the exam, and also listened to the graduates' answers to theoretical questions.

This event has become one of the key links in the system of a set of measures aimed at a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of the educational process and the quality of training for young professionals.
