A solemn event dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus

On July 2, 2026, Vitebsk State Medical University hosted a solemn event dedicated to the main holiday of our country — Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.

The event was attended by representatives of the university administration, faculty, staff and students of VSMU.

Addressing the audience, University Rector Alexei Chukanov stressed: "This holiday embodies the heroism, indomitable fortitude and greatness of the spirit of the Belarusian people. He reminds us once again of the value of a peaceful life, of the price at which the right to live under a clear sky was won." 

The culmination of the event was the ceremony of raising the National Flag of the Republic of Belarus. The honorary right to raise the main symbol of the country was granted to the lieutenant colonel of the medical service, senior lecturer of the military department Arseniy Tsygankov, as well as to the best students of the university — those who, through their achievements in public, scientific and creative activities, make a significant contribution to the development of the country.

A special atmosphere of celebration and warmth was created by students Ekaterina Dyakova, Anna Polekhina and Evelina Stryukova, who performed the song "The Sun over Belarus" with soul.
