From the heroic past to the pearl of architecture: an excursion trip along the Roads of Eastern Belarus

On July 11, 2026, the primary trade union organization of VSMU employees organized an excursion trip "Roads of Eastern Belarus" along the Vitebsk- Mogilev– Zhilichi –Slavgorod route.

The first stop was Buinichi Field, a memorial complex with the Museum of the Glory of the Mogilev region.

The building of the new interactive museum is made in the form of the Order of the Patriotic War of the first degree, which looks monumental and very symbolic. Inside, visitors were greeted by a modern multimedia story about the events of July 1941. The exhibition is dedicated to the heroic defense of Mogilev and the Dnieper frontier.

As noted by the participants of the tour themselves: "This is a very powerful place that makes you think about the price of a peaceful sky over your head."

The next point of the route was Zhilichi, which is often called the Belarusian Versailles. Modern Zhilichi is a small village next to an agricultural town, but it is there that one of the country's largest palaces, the Bulgakov Manor, is located.

The Bulgaks were wealthy landowners who spared no expense in luxury. On the banks of the Dobosna River, they built an impressive residence with a huge landscape park, sculptures, bridges, swimming pools and a whole complex of outbuildings.

The palace survived two world wars and has survived to the present day in excellent condition.

The final point of the trip was Slavgorod and the famous Blue Krynica, the largest spring in all of Eastern Europe. The water in it has an incredible, almost unreal bluish-green hue. This place has a powerful energy, and the water remains icy even in the July heat.

Upon returning to Vitebsk, the participants of the trip expressed their gratitude to the staff for organizing the excursion and the opportunity to spend an interesting, active and informative day off.
