On July 14, 2026, the Regional Scientific and Educational Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of the Vitebsk region of the Republic of Belarus and the Andijan region of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held. The large-scale event brought together leading representatives of the academic community of the two countries, confirming the high level of mutual interest in the development of interregional cooperation in the field of science and education.
Alexey Chukanov, Rector of Vitebsk State Medical University, took part in the forum.
The created discussion platform has become not only a place for open dialogue, exchange of the best pedagogical and scientific practices, building new partnership trajectories, but also a platform for consolidating the agreements reached at the official level. The culmination of the forum's business program was the signing of bilateral documents defining the vectors of further cooperation.
A cooperation agreement and a roadmap have been signed between Vitebsk State Medical University and Andijan State Medical Institute.
According to Alexey Chukanov, Rector of VSMU, the expansion of international cooperation and the strengthening of direct ties between medical schools in Belarus and Uzbekistan opens up new opportunities for joint research, academic mobility of students and teachers, as well as the unification of approaches to training highly qualified personnel in the field of healthcare. Such interaction serves as an important resource for improving the quality of education and integration into the global scientific space.
The agreements signed during the event will become a solid foundation for the implementation of joint projects and the further strengthening of friendly relations between institutions of higher education in Belarus and Uzbekistan.
