The Ambassador of Palestine visited Vitebsk State Medical University

On July 16, 2026, a delegation of the Embassy of the State of Palestine in the Republic of Belarus, headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Mr. Kamal Al-Shahr, paid an official visit to VSMU.

The visit was an important step in strengthening bilateral relations in the field of education and healthcare.

During the meeting with the university's management, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of academic cooperation between VSMU and specialized medical universities in Palestine.

Special attention was paid to the prospects of training Palestinian citizens at Vitebsk State Medical University, which has been one of the leading centers for training foreign specialists in Belarus for many years.

The Ambassador of Palestine highly appreciated the level of the university's material and technical base and the quality of training for future doctors. The parties expressed mutual interest in establishing direct contacts with medical universities in Palestine, as well as in expanding academic exchange programs for students and teachers.

In addition, issues of professional development of Palestinian doctors, internship and clinical residency at VSMU were discussed during the negotiations. The diplomat stressed that the embassy would work to create conditions for a more active influx of Palestinian students to Belarusian medical universities.

The parties agreed to continue the dialogue and prepare concrete proposals for the implementation of planned joint projects in the field of medical education and science in the near future.
