Since the beginning of August, young specialists have started working at healthcare institutions across the country. Ensuring decent working conditions and comfortable living arrangements for recent graduates is currently a matter of particular attention, as its successful resolution directly affects their adaptation and retention at their first place of employment.
In accordance with an instruction from the Ministry of Health, VSMU Rector Alexey Chukanov visited healthcare institutions in Mogilev and the Mogilev Region. During the working visit, he assessed not only the facilities and equipment of the workplaces where the new generation of doctors and pharmacists will work, but also familiarized himself with the living conditions of young specialists.
The itinerary included Bobruisk Central Hospital, Mogilev Central Polyclinic, City Polyclinics No. 1 and No. 6, Shklov Central District Hospital, as well as Mogilev Regional Pharmaceutical Enterprise “Pharmacy”. Particular attention at each institution was given to meetings with young doctors, interns and pharmacists.
The Rector familiarized himself with the infrastructure and spoke informally with recent graduates not only of VSMU but also of other medical universities in Belarus. He learned about the initial challenges faced by recent graduates and discussed issues related to mentoring, adaptation to professional teams and prospects for career development. Another topic of discussion was the relevance and adequacy of the knowledge and skills acquired during university studies.
