A Celebration of Books and Reading: Belarusian Library Day at VSMU

The VSMU Library held a festive programme dedicated to Belarusian Library Day.

The event opened with a performance by the "Mirror of the Soul" theatre studio, led by T.B. Vasilyeva, Deputy Head of the Student Club. The young performers gave the celebration a bright and creative start.

Throughout the day, an exhibition of new acquisitions was held in the foyer on the second floor. Readers explored the updated collection of scientific, educational and fiction literature, browsed new publications, assessed their content and design, and submitted requests to reserve books they were interested in.

A word-search puzzle game, "BiblioQuest", was also organized at the venue. Participants enthusiastically searched for words associated with libraries, books and reading.

The highlight of the programme was a creative meeting with writer Anna Malakhovskaya. During the Year of the Belarusian Woman, the discussion focused on life, the search for oneself, and the role of words and stories in a world that is constantly accelerating. The theme of the meeting – "Reading…" – was presented in a warm and unpretentious manner, without excessive pathos or complicated interpretations.
