Unity, Sport and Medicine: VSMU Holds the “Zarnitsa” Military-Patriotic Competition

On September 16, 2026, Vitebsk State Medical University hosted the large-scale military-patriotic sports and medical event "Zarnitsa 2026", dedicated to Unity Day.

This vibrant event traditionally brings together students, fostering a sense of patriotism, promoting their comprehensive development and building their readiness to fulfil their civic duty and constitutional obligations to defend the Motherland.

This year, five teams representing each of the University's faculties, as well as a team from Academician I.P. Antonov Vitebsk State Medical College, took part in the competition.

The participants had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and abilities in a variety of areas. They competed in solving challenging pharmacological and clinical tasks, demonstrated their knowledge of pharmacognosy, learned the basics of military training and enthusiastically took part in a sports relay race.

The atmosphere of unity was complemented by a field kitchen, where all participants and guests had the opportunity to taste hearty soldiers’ porridge.

The highlight of the event was the awards ceremony. The participants demonstrated not only excellent physical fitness but also strong professional knowledge.

The results of all stages were as follows:
* 1st place — the General Medicine Faculty team "Free Winds";
* 2nd place — the Pediatrics Faculty team "Pediatric Landing Force";
* 3rd place — the Pharmacy Faculty team "Buslyanyty".

The following teams finished just behind the leaders:
* 4th place — Academician I.P. Antonov Vitebsk State Medical College team "Patriots";
* 5th place — the Dentistry Faculty team "White Fang";
* 6th place — the Faculty of International Students team "FPIGavtsy".

All participants received a boost of energy, new impressions and sweet prizes, and, most importantly, demonstrated that VSMU students are ready to face any challenge.
