A Tradition That Unites Generations: VSMU Holds a Ceremonial Event Dedicated to Unity Day

On September 17, 2026, students, staff and distinguished guests gathered at the flagpole of Vitebsk State Medical University to celebrate one of the country's major national holidays — Unity Day.

Raising the State Flag on national holidays and commemorative dates has become a cherished tradition at Vitebsk State Medical University. The ceremony symbolizes deep respect for the national symbols and brings together students, teaching staff and guests of the University.

The ceremony began with the raising of the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus.

The honorary right to raise the country's principal symbol was granted to Lieutenant Colonel of the Medical Service Arseniy Tsygankov, as well as to students who have achieved significant success in their studies and social activities.

University Rector Alexey Chukanov addressed those gathered with congratulations. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of the holiday for consolidating society: “Unity Day is a symbol of our shared history and spiritual strength. Only by standing together, preserving our traditions and supporting one another can we overcome any challenges and build a strong future for our Belarus,” Alexey Chukanov said.

The festive event concluded with a performance by the "Mova Zor" Student Club. The group performed a song about their native Belarus, filling the atmosphere with warmth and pride in their country.
