On September 22, 2026, Vitebsk State Medical University became the venue for a meaningful open dialogue: Yuri Anatolyevich Panfilov, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Industry, Energy, Transport, Communications and Digital Development of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, met with university students and staff.
The main topic of the discussion was state-building and clarification of issues that are of particular concern to society today. The parliamentarian's presentation provided an overview of how the Belarusian model of government is structured.
Yuri Panfilov drew attention to an important point: educational institutions, especially universities, are concerned today not only with the professional development of future specialists, but also with fostering responsible citizens. That is why it is important to explain how the state mechanism actually works, how laws are adopted, and how the system of effective management of the country's resources is organized.
During the meeting, the parliamentarian explained in accessible terms what the National Assembly does, the difference between the executive and legislative branches of government, and the country's political structure. Particular attention was paid to the legislative process: Yuri Anatolyevich explained how the laws governing society are developed and adopted, including in the fields of healthcare and education.
The meeting concluded with an open discussion, during which participants were able to ask Yuri Anatolyevich questions that concerned them on the topics discussed.
