Safety Under Control: Large-Scale Emergency Response Drills Held at a VSMU Dormitory

On October 1, 2026, as part of the special preventive event “Safe Facility,” tactical and special training exercises for units of the Vitebsk City Department for Emergency Situations were held at Dormitory No. 7 of Vitebsk State Medical University.

According to the exercise scenario, the dispatcher received a report that the “Molniya” alarm system had been triggered. Under the scenario, a kitchen fire damaged the walls, ceiling, and property, while the premises were filled with smoke and combustion products. Rescuers conducted reconnaissance, organized the evacuation of injured persons, and extinguished the simulated fire, practicing the entire emergency response algorithm for locations with large numbers of people.

Alongside the practical part of the exercise, an information session was held for university students. Rescuers reminded young people about household fire safety rules, the procedure to follow when a fire is detected, and the importance of strict compliance with evacuation requirements. The session also included educational films demonstrating the consequences of careless handling of fire and electrical appliances.
