On 10 October 2026, VSMU staff took part in an exciting mini-trip titled “The Belarusian Tundra: The Lost World of Yelnya”, following the route Vitebsk–Yelnya Landscape Reserve–Miory–Verkhnedvinsk–Vitebsk.
The travellers enjoyed a vivid and informative excursion through the famous Yelnya bogs; explored the sights of the cosy, well-kept town of Miory (which, incidentally, will host the regional Dozhinki harvest festival next Saturday); learned how the famous cheeses of Verkhnedvinsk’s “Yan Syrodel” are made; and, of course, sampled the full range of its products.
It was a full and fascinating day, for which many thanks go to the university’s Staff Trade Union Committee, which organised the trip.
Let’s travel together with the trade union and make our lives more interesting!
