The International Student Congress of (bio)Medical Sciences

incomsDear student,

Are you conducting (bio)medical research and are you interested in presenting your work on an international stage? Or are you simply interested in learning about the latest (bio)medical research?

Presenting Flyer

The International Student Congress of (bio)Medical Sciences – ISCOMS – is one of the world’s leading international (bio)medical student congresses and it takes place annually in Groningen, the Netherlands. It is a venue for student research exchange aimed at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students in the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, human movement sciences, biomedical sciences and so on! Last year we hosted 634 participants from over 58 countries. This year, ISCOMS will take place from the 7th until the 10th of June 2016.

Students can visit the congress both as a presenting and as a non-presenting participant. ISCOMS offers a scientific programme with a pre-course on mastering your research, student presentation sessions (plenary, oral and poster), engaging workshops and an interactive surgical operation. Presenting students also stand a chance to win the first prize of €1250! You can also acquire information on working and performing research in Europe during our networking lunch, where you will be able to integrate with companies interested in recruiting ambitious international students. Moreover, students can explore their PhD opportunities with our ISCOMS Research Fellowships (IRF).

We will welcome three renowned keynote speakers. Our first keynote speaker will be Prof. Stefan W. Hell PhD, who was awarded the Nobel prize in Chemistry in 2014 for developing super-resolved fluorescence microscopy. Secondly, we will have Prof. Cisca Wijmenga PhD, a Dutch researcher from the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). She won the Spinoza prize in 2015 for her research on the role of human genetics in coeliac disease. Our third speaker will be Robert Greenberg MD PhD, the CEO of Second Sight, whose mission is to develop implantable visual prosthetics to enable blind individuals to see again!

On top of all this, we will feature an exciting social program, including a formal dinner, the amazing World Wide ISCOMS Night and a post-congress tour.
